K. Kemeter et al., ULTRAFAST SOLVATION OF POLAR PHOTOCHROMIC REACTION-PRODUCTS, Molecular crystals and liquid crystals science and technology. Section A, Molecular crystals and liquid crystals, 246, 1994, pp. 251-257
A first part reports on the time-resolved dynamic Stokes shift of fluo
rescence for a solvatochromic dye in a dielectric solvent. This serves
to introduce techniques, observables, and analysis in pump-probe spec
troscopy with a fs white-light probe. A second part deals with the pho
todissociation of an aromatic disulfide into two polar radical fragmen
ts. The solvatochromism of the fragments is examined both statically a
s well as by fs spectroscopy. The solvation process is simulated by mo
lecular dynamics calculations.
