Legislative measures limiting the emissions from combustion of vehicle
-engine gasolines are surveyed. The knowledge concerning effects of ph
ysico-chemical properties of gasolines on the formation of the emissio
ns and the use of catalytic convertors for emission elimination or red
uction is also reviewed. The problems of atmosphere contamination with
gasoline evaporated from the fuel system during vehicle operation and
standing and during gasolines handling is discussed and the methods r
educing this contamination are mentioned.
