Abstract
A closed-loop adaptive-optics servo system is an iterative optical-dig ital processor that can be characterized by a first-order difference e quation. This identification leads to a new class of wave-front estima tors, some of which are extremely sparse and permit real-time subapert ure intensity weighting.
