The use of nuclear fission as a reaction filter for the heavy hypernuc
lei, deeply bound pionic atoms, pionic, eta-mesonic and antiprotonic n
uclei study is proposed. A strong effect of background suppression may
be reached by employing the fission fragment folding-angle technique
in recoilless reactions on preactinide nuclei. Active fissile targets
based on low-pressure proportional chambers are discussed.
