Abstract
The leaves of Ilex paraguariensis have yielded three new saponins name d matesaponins 2, 3, and 4 [1-3], which have been characterized by che mical and nmr methods as ursolic acid -arabinopyranosyl]-(28-->1)-beta -D-glucopyranosyl] ester, ursolic acid ta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->6)-bet a-D-glucopyranosyl] ester, and ursolic acid ta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->6 )-beta-D-glucopyranosyl] ester, respectively.
