The experimental results of the mass spectrometry investigation of the
metal-hydride activation of hydrogen are presented. The presence of a
ctivation and estimation of the value of concentration of vibrationall
y excited H-2() molecules were determined as a result of analyzing th
e change of the position of the ionization effectiveness curve (IEC) f
or an ion peak with m/e = 2 for: (a) for hydrogen in the base state H-
2 (upsilon = 0) and; (b) the hydrogen-forming compound LaNi5 at variou
s temperatures and for a high-frequency plasma source of atoms and vib
rationally excited hydrogen molecules. It was shown that, as a result
of contact with a metal-hydride activator, the effect consists of exci
tation of the first vibrational level of H-2() (upsilon = 1), the rel
ative concentration of vibrationally excited molecules being 5-6%.
