Abstract
A semi-empirical method is proposed for determination of the nematic l iquid crystal-substrate interaction potential. Employing results of th e dielectric constant epsilon and phase shift delta measurements, pres ented for trans-4'-n-hexyl-cyclo-hexyl-isothiocyanatobenzene (6CHBT) a nd applying the self-consistent director field method, interaction pot entials (6CHBT-polyimide) and (6CHBT-lecithin) have been estimated.
