Abstract
With the development of contact sidefiring fibers, urologists have gai ned a valuable tool to deliver laser energy more precisely into prosta tic tissue. Contact laser prostatectomy can now be viewed as a well-es tablished procedure that offers several distinct advantages over conve ntional methods such as transurethral resection of the prostate. The r esults of experimental and clinical studies are presented, supporting the value of this new modality.
