Abstract
Genes for blast resistance in rice cultivars from different regions of the world were analyzed in relation to ecological differentiation of the species Oryzae sativa L. A wide diversity of resistance genes occu rred in the south Asian and Latin American ecological geographical gro ups. Many cultivars with effective resistance genes against races of t he native pathogen population were revealed in samples of Iranian, sou th Asian, Philippine, and Latin American ecological geographical group s.
