Triphenylamine-containing poly(methacrylamide) (PTPAMA)was synthesized
and used as a hole transport layer in an organic electroluminescent (
EL) device, Using an electron-transporting aluminum complex (Alq) as a
n emitter layer, double-layer-type EL devices were fabricated. A cell
structure of glass substrate/indium-tin-oxide/PTPAMA/Alq/Mg/Ag was emp
loyed. Hole injection from the electrode through the PTPAMA layer to t
he Alq layer and concomitant electroluminescence from the Alq layer we
re observed. Bright green luminescence with a luminance of 9,000 cd/m(
2) was achieved at a drive voltage of 12V.
