Abstract
We report on fluorescence lifetime measurements in cylindrical microca vities. Er- and Nd-doped fibres were drawn to diameters down to 1 mu m and then coated with a metallic mirror. Fluorescence decay curves wer e recorded by time-resolved single-photon counting. Lifetime reduction s of up to 45% were observed.
