Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) avulsion at the intercondylar eminenc
e, though well recognized in the pediatric population, is uncommon in
skeletally mature people. unlike in children, this injury in adults is
often associated with soft-tissue trauma such as tears of the meniscu
s and of other ligaments, X-rays are often diagnostic for avulsion, bu
t MRI is often required to identify concomitant injuries. In adults, s
urgical repair restores normal ACL function.
