Abstract
Plasma neurotensin response to oral glucose in patients with and witho ut early dumping syndrome after gastrectomy was investigated with oral glucose load (50g). 5 patients with early dumping syndrome and 8 pati ents without the syndrome were investigated before and after gastrecto my. There was no difference in response of neurotensin before surgery between these two groups of patients. Plasma levels of neurotensin aft er gastrectomy were significantly higher than those before gastrectomy . Plasma neurotensin response to oral glucose in patients with dumping syndrome did not differ from that without dumping syndrome. These res ults suggest that it is unlikely that neurotensin has a significant ro le in the early dumping syndrome in gastrectomized patients.
