Abstract
A theoretical model of the density of states for random binary alloys is presented in the dilute limit based on a mean-field approach. The m odel incorporates both diagonal and off-diagonal disorder as well as s hort-range order. Extensive results are reported for the density of st ates and various physical quantities in the limit of weak concentratio n and compared to other theories.
