A rotational band of (160)LU was identified for the first time through
the Sm-144(F-19,3n)Lu-160 reaction with a beam energy of 90 MeV. A ga
mma-gamma-BGO coincidence experiment was performed using five HpGe-BGO
Compton-Suppressed spectrometers and a 14 elements ball of EGO detect
ors. The highest spin of the band with pi 9/2(-)[514]xv1/2(+)[660] cou
ld be pushed up to 21(-), and it shows the feature of an anomalous sig
nature splitting.
