The beta-decay of La-150 the heaviest isotope of lanthanum, has been i
dentified by observing gamma-rays from mass separated activities obtai
ned at KUR-ISOL. From the decay curves of 97.0 and 208.7 keV gamma-ray
s in Ce-150 and of Ce-K-alpha X-ray, the half-life of La-150 has been
determined as 0.51(3) s. This value is in agreement with theoretical p
redictions from microscopic theory.
