Abstract
The temperature dependent resonant spectra of elastic light scattering from rough surfaces of CdS crystals were studied in the vicinity of t he A(n=1) exciton state. Good agreement is obtained between the measur ed spectra and the results of a theory of diffuse light reflection, wh ich takes account of both exciton spatial dispersion and exciton-free ''dead'' layer effects. The statistical parameters of surface roughnes s and the temperature dependence of the exciton damping parameter are presented.
