Abstract
Profound circulatory failure developed in a 45-year-old man after an a cute myocardial infarction. A left ventricular assist device was used successfully to bridge the patient to transplantation despite recurren t and medically refractory ventricular arrhythmias that lasted from th e second through the 12th day of circulatory support.
