Abstract
A dissolution method for gold determination in geological materials us ing potassium permanganate and hydrochloric acid is described. This me thod replaces the time-consuming, hazardous, and tedious aqua regia me thod currently used for gold determination in geological materials wit h flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). In the method proposed, gold is coprecipitated with mercury or tellurium after dissolution. T he procedure is simple and economical.
