O. Eilam et al., PLASMACYTOMA OF THE NASAL CAVITY WITH LAMBDA-III AMYLOID DEPOSITION, AMYLOID-INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF EXPERIMENTAL AND CLINICAL INVESTIGATION, 2(1), 1995, pp. 31-35
A patient presented with a large nasal plasmacytoma that involved the
palate, ethmoid and maxillary sinuses and contained deposits of amyloi
d. Immunoglobulin (AL) amyloid was found in the tumor. Amyloid fibrils
extracted from the resected tumor were found to contain lambda light
chain protein. Complete sequence analysis identified the protein as la
mbda III immunoglobulin light chain. Evaluation of the patient failed
to reveal any sign of systemic amyloidosis and three years of follow-u
p has shown no evidence of recurrence.
