A self-organization of regular spontaneous gratings in thin waveguide
photosensitive AgCl - Ag films was studied versus of the angle of inci
dence of au inducing P-polarized laser beam under conditions of a tota
l internal reflection. It is shown that a variety of the system of spo
ntaneous gratings is determined by a parameter rho = k(x)/beta, where
k(x) is the tangential component of a wave vector of incident radiatio
n, beta is the propagntion constant of waveguide mode. Amongst values
of rho are encountered ''magic'' numbers, which either demarcate the s
ystems of spontaneous gratings with different wavevectors or promote t
he amplification of some gratings at the expense of a decay of others.
