Abstract
Projective collineations in spacetimes, i.e. vector fields generating local groups of geodesic-preserving diffeomorphisms, are studied. The situation for Einstein spaces is resolved completely and some general results are established regarding arbitrary spacetimes. Examples of pr oper projective collineations are constructed.
