Abstract
A variety of substituted 1,8-napthyridines were synthesized from 2-alk oxy-6-amino-3-cyano-5-formyl-4-phenylpyridine (1) by Friedlander conde nsation with aldehydes, aliphatic, cyclic or aromatic ketones and othe r active methylene compounds. Reactions of 1 with other compounds, wer e also studied.
