P. Shaughnessy et Dm. Kivlighan, USING GROUP PARTICIPANTS PERCEPTIONS OF THERAPEUTIC FACTORS TO FORM CLIENT TYPOLOGIES, Small group research, 26(2), 1995, pp. 250-268
Cluster analysis was used to categorize group participants by the spec
ific therapeutic factors identified as most critical to their experien
ce in the group. The 114 group participants filled our a critical inci
dent form at the end of each group session and judges placed these for
ms into therapeutic factor categories. Results revealed four types of
group participants labeled broad-spectrum responders, self-reflective
responders, other-directed responders, and affective responders. Clini
cal and research implications of the results are discussed.
