The author redefines and redescribes five Anthophora species of the su
bgenus Lophanthophora Brooks from West Mediterranean region : Anthopho
ra affinis Brulle, 1832, A. agama Radoszkowski, 1969, A. dispar Lepele
tier, 1841, A. mucida Gribodo, 1873 and A. robusta (Klug, 1817). Compl
ete synonymy, distribution, phenology and flower preferences in France
are provided and discussed.
