Abstract
Umbriel is the name of a simple Medula-like programming language, expr essly intended for teaching introductory imperative programming. Umbri el, like Oberon, is the name of a moon of Uranus. Miranda is the small est of her moons, but that name is already bespoke in the programming language game. So is Ariel, the original name chosen for the new langu age.
