Abstract
The condensation of benzaldehydes with acetoacetic esters and ammonia was carried out in aqueous solutions of aliphatic hydrotropes. Substan tial enhancement in the rates of the reactions along with easy recover y of the product were noted. The recyclabilty of the hydrotropes has a lso been tested.
