Abstract
Septic osteomyelitis of the hip in a previously healthy child is descr ibed. A weakly toxigenic Corynebacterium diphtheriae strain was isolat ed from the bone aspirate. The results of the treatment were rapidly s atisfactory, after surgical drainage and antibiotic therapy with prist inamycin. Conclusion This case report shows that C. diphtheriae has no t disappeared in the developed world and can be responsible of systemi c infections.
