M. Wirth et al., RESULTS AND PROBLEMS OF A REGIONAL FOLLOW -UP-STUDY IN THE PREVENTIONOF CARDIOVASCULAR-DISEASE, Herz, Kreislauf, 27(4), 1995, pp. 131-134
A one-year prospective cohort study of different employee populations-
altogether 122 men and 197 women-resulted in a statistically significa
nt improvement of the cardiovascular risk factor profile of white-coll
ar workers but not of blue-collar workers. There were also differences
in sexes. The men in the study had reduced systolic and diastolic blo
od pressure rates and lowered serum cholesterol levels (p < 0.05). The
women had reduced diastolic blood pressure and lowered serum choleste
rol levels (p < 0.05). Results and problems in interpreting the study
are discussed.
