Abstract
The photoluminescence spectra of Er3+ in partially crystallized ZrF4-L aF3-ErF3-AlF3 glasses and in ErZr3F15 are compared exhibiting very cle ar analogies. The X-ray powder diffraction data confirm that the cryst allized phase which appears during the crystallization of the glass is the trigonal La1-xErxZr3F15 one, isotopic with BiZr3F15 From the unit cell parameters of this phase and from the Er3+ emitting levels lifet imes a partial substitution of Er3+ for La3+ has been evidenced.
