Abstract
Density, polarization or relaxation time of an optically pumped alkali vapor are important parameters in spin-exchange sources for polarized hydrogen atom or ion beams. We present the setup of a compact monitor for these parameters based on the Faraday rotation of the plane of po larization of nearly resonant light. Accuracy and application are disc ussed.
