This research note reports and to some extent explains recent mathemat
ical results on the spectrum of Newtonian adiabatic stellar oscillatio
ns. The main results concern the case of polytropic background models
with a polytropic index n > 0 and an adiabatic index, which is constan
t near the center as well as near the boundary of the star. For such c
ases the corresponding spectrum of radial/spheroidal stellar oscillati
ons was shown to be purely discrete/a countable pure point spectrum, r
espectively.
