Ni-P electroless deposition was performed on cut edges of zinc-plated
steel sheets. Two plating baths were used and the coatings were studie
d by XRD, DSC and current intensity measurements. The deposit was eith
er nanocrystalline or amorphous depending on the amount of phosphorus
incorporated. The electrochemical system constituted of the Zn/Fe coup
le favoured deposition by enhancing its rate.
