Abstract
A star pattern recognition algorithm is described which recovers attit ude information by processing data obtained from a modular star sensor (MOSS) mounted on a spacecraft Information is obtained by matching th e stars detected by the MOSS with those inside a stellar catalogue. Th e system performance has been evaluated both from the point of view of computation time and error probability. The effect of errors in the M OSS measurements and multiple matches cases are also discussed.
