Abstract
The deep red manganese(IV) complex Na7K[Mn{TeO4(OH)(2)}(3)]. 3H(2)O ha s been prepared by S2O82- oxidation of a mixture of manganese(II) salt and telluric acid in aqueous alkali. It has been characterized by ana lysis, IR and UV-vis spectroscopy and magnetic measurements. The struc ture of the anion has been established by a combination of manganese a nd tellurium K-edge EXAFS studies. Attempts to obtain a nickel(IV) tel lurate have been unsuccessful.
