Abstract
Absolute cross sections for mutual neutralization of He+/O- and Na+/O- ions have been measured by a merged beam technique for interaction en ergies between 1.2 and 500 eV, and 0.6 and 330 eV respectively. The re sults for Na+/O- are in excellent agreement with inclined beam measure ments by Peart and Foster in the overlapping range of energies. At int eraction speeds greater than about 2x10(5) m s(-1), results for He+/O- , Na+/O-. O+/O- and N+/O- appear to converge.
