Abstract
Reliability of manufacturing equipment has a large impact on throughpu t and productivity. Hitherto, attempts at modeling manufacturing equip ment reliability has concentrated on the use of analytical models or h igh-level simulation models. These approaches have been limited in the ir ability to model complex systems. To extend the scope of modeling c apabilities, this research presents a hierarchical, multi-absorption s imulation approach to modeling complex manufacturing equipment.
