THE USE OF ISO-9000 IN THE TEXTILE-INDUSTRY - THE DUPONT EXPERIENCE

Businesses throughout the world are beginning to ask questions about t he value of certification under the International Standards referred t o as ISO 9000. This paper is a brief description of the International Organization for Standardization and the elements that comprise ISO 90 01. The DuPont Company is the leader in the United States in the numbe r of businesses that are certified under the ISO standards. DuPont's e xperience, knowledge and involvement with the certification process is reflected in this paper. The author has tried to build a complete pic ture of the process, cost and benefits that are associated with ISO 90 00 certification.
