Abstract
The incidence of heart disease is disproportionately large among the H awaiian population. This article discusses the prevalence of heart dis ease and associated risk factors among Hawaiians find identifies barri ers to health care, including accessibility and the acceptability of s ervices to this population. Case examples are provided. Culturally res ponsive strategies to address these problems are described, and implic ations for social work are discussed.
