J. Linke et A. Roloff, AGRICULTURAL HERBS AS AUXILIARY PLANTS FO R THE ESTABLISHMENT OF FOREST SITES, Allgemeine Forst- und Jagdzeitung, 166(4), 1995, pp. 69-76
An experiment of the 'Forest Ecosystems Research Center - Gottingen' w
as the establishment of a melioration area on a former old spruce stan
d site. Different treatments has been applicated: deep ploughing, incl
uding liming and fertilization, surficial liming/fertilitation and a c
ontrol version. On half the part of all treated versions agricultural
auxiliary plants has been sowed with the goal to concentrate as fast a
nd as much biomass as possible, to cover the soil and to integrate the
yielded nutrient-elements into the material cycling. The dynamic of s
uttlement, the development of the biomass and the element-reserves of
the agricultural auxiliary plants has been research ed and described,
aided by so called permanent monitoring plots respectively by harvesti
ng the biomass in special plots. Given these results the use of agricu
ltural auxiliary plants on cleared sites which are planed to be cultiv
ated with forest plants is appraised.
