Abstract
A behavioral model of a wavelength-division multiplexing communication network for transporting data at SONET/SDH OC-192 using VHDL is descr ibed. VHDL simulation results are given for the SONET frame generator, electrical-to-optical conversion, data transporter, and optical-to-el ectrical conversion. Relative bit delay, due to wavelength dispersion, between adjacent bits is included in the model of a 10-km transmissio n link.
