Abstract
Ruthenafurans [Ru(CO){C(R)OC(OEt)=CH}CIL(2)] (L = PMe(2)Ph, R = CH=CHO Et CH=CHCMe(3), Me or Ph; L = PMe(3), R = CH=CHOEt or CH=CHPh) can be formed reversibly from [Ru(CO)(2)RCIL(2)] and EtOC=CH: the rate-determ ining forward step involves the formation of the intermediate [Ru(CO)( COR)CIL(2)], which can be trapped when the reverse reaction occurs in the presence of Me(3)CNC.
