C. Villiers et M. Ephritikhine, NOVEL HYDROBORATION OF HIGHLY SUBSTITUTED ALKENES CATALYZED BY BOROHYDRIDE COMPLEXES OF URANIUM, NEODYMIUM AND ZIRCONIUM, Journal of the Chemical Society, Chemical Communications, (9), 1995, pp. 979-980
Alkenes are hydroborated with LiBH4 in the presence of UCl4, NdCl3 or
ZrCl4, by following the reactivity sequence tetramethylethylene > 1-me
thylcyclohexene much greater than 2-methylpropene or hex-l-ene (no rea
ction); treatment of U(BH4)(4) with tetramethylethylene affords the ur
anium tetrakis(thexylborohydride) [U(BH(3)R)(4)] (R = CMe(2)CMe(2)H).
