Abstract
Cold, magnetically supported disklike clouds are evolutionary precurso rs of protostars. Magnetic tension balances self-gravity in these syst ems, so the magnetic held lines kink as they cross the disk. Despite t his strong magnetic curvature, these disks turn out to be marginally s table to self-gravitating perturbations which preserve the plane of th e disk.
