The tridentate ligands with the S-Methyldithiocarbazate Schiff Base of
2-Salicylaldehyde (H(2)Sal) and 2-Pyridinaldehyde (HPyr) react in dif
ferent way with diorganotin(IV) oxides, in the first case to the five-
coordinate complex R(2)Sn-Sal with trigonal bipyramidal structure and
in the second case to the binuclear complex [(R(2)Sn-Pyr)(2)CO3] with
a bridging carbonat anion. The structures were elucidated by X-ray dif
fraction and by multinuclear NMR in solution. IR- and Mass-spectrometr
ic measurements complete the results.
