On the basis on previous studies of the selective adsorption of platin
um group metals by PAN--MVP fibers, the concentration process has been
described for the cases of single-stage and multistage static sorptio
n. General equations involving sorption equilibrium parameters, capaci
ty characteristics of the sorbents, and various concentration variable
s, have been derived for predicting sorption concentrating. The adequa
cy of these equations has been confirmed by experiments on the adsorpt
ion of hexachloroplatinate(IV) ions from chloride solutions.
