A detector (RFD) has been developed that measures evaporation residues
in coincidence with gamma-rays detected in a Ge-array. Evaporation re
sidues are distinguished by time of flight from any other reaction pro
ducts with different velocity, Like from fission and reactions with Li
ght target impurities, and the background from these processes is elim
inated. Also the energy of the gamma-rays can be Doppler corrected eve
nt by event with the measured velocity vector of the emitting nucleus
improving the resolution. Recent results of experiments with OSIRIS at
VICKSI on (189)pb and nuclei around doubly magic Ni-56, that show the
performance of the detector, are presented and the perspectives of th
e RFD application with EUROBALL are discussed.
