Abstract
Using a rotatable three-electrode Mach probe at the outer edge region of the plasma, preliminary observations indicate the existence of a to roidal rotation in the ion flow direction (of the toroidal current) wi th no comparable poloidal rotation. This rotation cannot be in the dir ection of the magnetic field, because of the large pitch of the local magnetic held. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
