R. Hamza et K. Buckley, AN ANALYSIS OF WEIGHTED EIGENSPACE METHODS IN THE PRESENCE OF SENSOR ERRORS, IEEE transactions on signal processing, 43(5), 1995, pp. 1140-1150
Among all direction finding methods, eigenspace-based spectral methods
are of interest because they are known to yield asymptotically unbias
ed and efficient estimates, These algorithms require knowledge of the
array geometry and its elements' characteristics. In real systems, onl
y approximate knowledge of the required array characterization is avai
lable, There is valid concern that deviation of nominal sensor gain an
d phase values call result in degradation of DOA estimates. In this pa
per, we analyze the effects of sensor gain and phase perturbation on w
eighted eigenspace methods (WEM's), We quantify the sensitivity of WEM
's by first- and second-order statistical analyses, Simulation results
are included to validate our analytical results.
