Specific features of thermodynamic and atomic transport properties of
demixing liquid binary alloys are presented. After discussing the expe
rimental methods, the use of the thermodynamic properties in the calcu
lation of phase equilibria is emphasized by reference to Bi-Ga and Al-
Si-Pb. The selfassociation model to describe the thermodynamic propert
ies of binary liquid demixing alloys is briefly outlined. The correlat
ion of interdiffusion and viscosity is also discussed. The intended ap
plication of these alloys for advanced bearing material is presented.
